Natasha's Law is a UK food safety regulation that came into effect on 1st October 2021 following the tragic death of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse in 2016, who suffered a fatal allergic reaction to a product that lacked clear allergen information.
Businesses must ensure that PPDS foods (Pre Packaged foods for Direct Sale) are labelled with:
• The full list of ingredients, in descending order by weight
• Any of the 14 major allergens clearly highlighted (e.g. in bold or underlined)
The 14 allergens include:
Celery, Cereals containing gluten, Crustaceans, Eggs, Fish, Lupin, Milk, Molluscs, Mustard, Nuts,
Peanuts, Sesame seeds, Soyabeans, Sulphur dioxide and sulphites.
